> Temples and "Ancient Egypt"

The guidebooks call it the world's biggest open-air musem. Everywhere you turn in the Karnak / Luxor area there are ancient monuments, the remains of a huge complex of sites. I spent a day looking around the temples, and was appropriately humbled by the size and amazing quality of the architecture and stonework that I saw. In places the paint is still on the walls, hinting at even more gradeur in the past.
