The first country encountered by most overland travellers is obviously France. So here is the moderately direct route I took to get to Marseille. For all but 90km, I rode on Routes Nationales, the equivalent of A-roads in the UK. This is because autoroutes often have tolls, I wanted to relax and be able to stop for coffee, and I had a top speed of 140km/h.
